I Have a Favor to Ask....

Dear blogging friends,

After years of not posting.... I'm BACK.  For the next few weeks I will be blogging about business (which is totally boring, I know), but it's for a class and I really need people to follow me in order to get credit!  So... I'm humbly asking each of you to follow my cute NEW BLOG called "A Little Extra From the Ordinary" http://tarahdresser1pm.blogspot.com/.   I promise that if you follow me, I will start writing about interesting things as soon as the class is done!  Pinky swear.
Could you do that for me??  I'm literally begging.

Love you all.

Okay, so I'm a Bit Chesty. So, What??

As many of you may know,  school started again last week up at Utah State.  Everything has been going well except for the fact that my classes are super hard and I have no idea how or why people do accounting.....   Anyway, I was running late to institute this morning and had trouble finding the right room in our extremely confusing building.  After minutes of aimlessly wandering through foyers with doors in all directions, the light shining from one obscure room at the end of a dark hallway flickered into view.  I picked up the pace and my backpack began furiously bouncing up and down on my tailbone.  All eyes were fixed on me as I grabbed the doorframe and let out a sigh of exhaustion and embarrassment.  In spite of my frantic efforts, class had already started and the room was completely still.  I panted a few times, shrugged my bag back onto my shoulders, and began walking the silent gauntlet over to the empty desk right at the front.  As I walked, I realized I was still slumping a bit from my jog down the hall, so I quickly put my hands to my sides and straightened my shoulders.  POP!!!  My eyes bulged in horror as my scarf exploded out of my coat and one shiny button catapulted outward into my new-found audience.  I stood there until 40 glassy-eyed students began uncovering their heads and looking around the room trying to figure out what had been shot at them.  I fell to the floor and began groping the carpet in hopes that I would recover the lost piece of my obvious fashion statement.  After what seemed like hours of searching, one of my classmates placed the button into my hands and gave me one of those "you poor, oblivious soul" smiles.  I graciously thanked her as I gathered the various pieces of clothing I had unknowingly dropped on the floor during my frantic search.  I scrambled over to the empty desk, plopped down, and sat in silence for the rest of the class period.

I guess the morals to this story are as follows:
  • Don't ever buy a coat from Burlington Coat Factory (the buttons may or may not all fall off at some point)
  • Don't be late to class
  • Don't run in the institute building
  • Slump when you walk
  • Run to your desk while everyone's eyes are closed and heads are covered.... then no one will know it was you.

This is Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

Here's a little poem for this fine Autumn day!

To Autumn by William Blake

O Autumn, laden with fruit, and stain'd
With the blood of the gape, pass not, but sit
Beneath my shady roof; there thou may'st rest,
And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe,
And all the daughters of the year shall dance!
Sing now the lusty song of fruits and flowers.

'The narrow bud opens her beauties to
The sun, and love runs in her thrilling veins;
Blossoms hang around the brows of Morning, and
Flourish down the bright cheeks of modest Eve,
Till clust'ring Summer breaks forth into singing,
And feather'd clouds strew flowers round her head.

'The spirits of the air live in the smells
Of fruit; and Joy, with pinions light, roves round
The gardens, or sits singing in the trees.'
Thus sang the jolly Autumn as he sat,
Then rose, girded himself, and o'er the bleak
Hills fled from our sight; but left his golden load.

I hope you all have a wonderful night filled with fun, friends, and creepy occurrences! :)

It's Been Awhile.....

Well hey there fellow bloggers! Sorry I've taken so long to write another post!  I hope you are all doing well and that your lives are being led in the direction you want them to.  If not, no need to worry; that's alright too :)

Some say that you have to create a vision of what you would like your life to be like in order to have  goals to reach.  I've found that not letting my imagination run wild is actually better because I'm not disappointed when things don't go exactly the way I had planned them.  I figured that coming back up to Utah State as a sophomore would make my life completely perfect and that things would go a million times better.  I mean, summer was great.  I made a lot of new friends, reunited myself with old friends, had a great job, made some good money,  lost weight, and came back up feeling on top of the world.  However, I'll admit that having the expectation that everything would be perfect was probably a bit overrated.  I haven't dated much, gained some weight back (curse you, chocolate! curse you!), classes are super hard (Business Stats, Economics, Management and Information Systems, Creative Arts.....), friendships have been hard to maintain back at home, living with people I don't know has been rough, and the guy I may or may not have a crush on hasn't been contacting me.  Okay, okay; now before I start sounding too pathetic I will get to the point.  As I gave myself a few smacks on the cheeks, stepped back and looked at the situation, and gathered my bearings, I realized that I AM ALRIGHT.  I live in a beautiful apartment with my best friend, have lots of friends, support and love from my wonderful parents, and am under the constant watch of my Heavenly Father.  Things will happen at the  right time, for the right reason, in the right manner.  I know that's cliche' but really, there is no need to stress about everything!  So, for all you worriers out there, take a minute to pause and recognize the little things that are going the direction they should.  There isn't a moment when absolutely everything is going awry! There is always something going the way it needs to, even if you don't want it that way. You will be just fine :)

Oh Grandma....

My dear sweet grandmother, Carmona, was over at my house yesterday.  We chatted as usual about work, school, and how my friends are doing.  After mentioning something about my car, Grandma screeched, "Wait!! You will never guess what happened to me the other day.  Get a load of this..."  Her eyebrows furrowed, she leaned over the table, and I knew a great story would ensue.  "You know all of that construction going on out on Bangerter Highway?" she asked.  "Well, I was turning left on a green arrow into the intersection, when traffic came to a complete halt.  I was totally stuck there! I couldn't move at all and there was nothing I could do about it.  Traffic slowly inched forward as the lights parallel to my car turned green.  I received every look ranging from utter disgust to complete understanding.  Just when I thought the ordeal was over, a rather ugly middle aged man rolled down his window and barked, "Get out of the way you stupid old grandma!"  I was so mad that I stuck my head right out the window and yelled, "Shut up, you stupid ignorant punk!" Then I did this..."  Grandma stood up with her fists at her side, arched her neck forward, and stuck her tongue out as far as she could.  With a nod of her head, she sat back down, folded her arms, and said, "Boy, did I show him!  No idiot on the street is going to call me a stupid old woman!"

All I know is that I want to be just like my grandmother when I get older!  That woman doesn't let ANYONE push her around!
